  • Milk Cup Cord (3 Meters) for Lely Astronaut

The Milk Cup Cord is a high-tensile, wear-resistant retrieval line used across all generations of Lely Astronaut milking robots. This cord is the mechanical link between the cord cylinder and the teat cup, responsible for pulling the cups back to the arm or storage rack once milking is complete or if a kick-off occurs.

    • Lely A2
    • Lely A3 / A3 Next
    • Lely A4
    • Lely A5

    Key Features

    • Low Friction Surface: Designed with a smooth outer braid to reduce wear on plastic pulleys and guide eyes, ensuring a silent and fluid retraction.
    • Minimal Stretch: The core is engineered to maintain a consistent length under tension, which is critical for the robot to know the exact "parked" position of the teat cup.
    • Chemical & Moisture Resistance: Built to withstand constant exposure to milk, manure, water, and acidic/alkaline cleaning agents without fraying or rotting.
    • Optimal Thickness: Precisely sized to fit the grooves of the Lely cord pulleys without jumping off or jamming the cylinder.

    Maintenance & Replacement Tip

The milk cup cord is a "wear item." If a cord snaps, the robot cannot retract the teat cup, leading to potential damage if the cow steps on the cup or if the arm moves while the cup is still on the floor.

    • Check for Fraying: During weekly maintenance, run your fingers along the cord. If you feel "fuzziness" or see broken strands, replace the cord immediately.
    • The "Burn" Technique: When cutting the cord to size or threading it, lightly singe the end with a lighter to prevent the braid from unraveling.
    • Knot Security: Ensure the figure-eight or stopper knot inside the teat cup plug is tight and seated correctly to prevent the cup from flying off during high-speed retraction.
