Feeding Recommendations:
- First feeding: As soon as possible after birth, ideally within 2 hours.
- Second feeding: Within 6-8 hours of the first feeding.
- Amount:
- To completely replace maternal colostrum: 2 bags (1400g) or 6.7 scoops providing 200g IgG, mixed with 10 cups of water.
- General recommendation: Feed 10% of the calf's body weight as a first feeding.
Additional Information:
- Calves have a limited ability to absorb antibodies after 24 hours old.
- Use a refractometer to test colostrum quality. Aim for a minimum of 50g IgG/L.
